I ASKED GALEXIS[1] EARLY ON IF THE BEAUTIFUL SPHERE THAT HAD COME INTO MY KEEPING HAD A NAME. “YES,” THEY SAID, “BUT IT DOESN’T WANT US TO TELL YOU WHAT IT IS. IT WANTS YOU TO DISCOVER THAT ON YOUR OWN.”
I would have preferred to just be told. I didn’t want the responsibility. What if I got it wrong? My self-image was already being stretched to the max just from being the keeper of this magnificent being. Could I manage to discover its name too?
It turns out, I could, and not only that, I got my wish and was “told” her name. Two of my dear friends each dreamed half of her name!
Carla came to visit me not long after I’d vowed to discover her name, and as soon as she walked in the door, she blurted out the name, “Atara!”
“What is Atara?” I questioned.
“I had a dream last night that I was in the Himalayas,” she began. “I was happily wandering down winding dirt roads, visiting little Tibetan stores and cafes in a little mountain town, which was located at the base of a massive monastery further up the mountain. I had a purpose for being there, but I didn’t know what it was.”
“The next thing I knew,” she continued, “I was on a trail in a valley approaching a small very old ancient temple, which was in partial ruins. I went inside the temple, and suddenly, I woke up. I heard a voice in my head repeat the word Atara over and over again, and then the voice spelled it out… A – T – A – R – A.”
I knew instantly that Atara was the name of the crystal.
When I got to my computer I immediately looked it up. The meaning of Atara is crown, blessed. The blessed part made sense to me, but the “crown” part didn’t. What could “crown” possibly mean?
I got my answer a few days later when my friend Sara called.
“I was staying with my aunt in the dessert north of Santa Fe,” Sara began, “I woke up in the middle of the night after having a dream that felt profound. The thing that struck me the most was the chanting that wove its way throughout the dream. The words being chanted were ‘Gaia Rhea’.
“It felt like Gaia Rhea was a place I needed to go to. It was very peaceful, repetitive and entranced me. I have never heard these words before. What do you think they mean? It feels like a larger message and I can’t transcribe it,” Sara continued.
“Boni, somehow I knew that you were the only person who could make sense of this.”
I don’t know how I knew, but I knew this was related to my crystal. Could this be related to her name? Or is it some information to point me to her name?
I knew that Gaia meant earth. But what did Rhea mean? A quick Internet search informed me that in Greek mythology Rhea was “mother of gods.”
Then I had the insight to put two of the words that my friends had dreamed together: Atara Gaia—Crown (of the) Earth. And the other meanings my friends dreamt: “blessed,” and “mother of gods,” seemed to confirm the energy around these two incredible dreams.
Would you like to know about the gifts Atara brings to us?
With so much love,
Boni Lonnsburry
